Tangier: customers change from one district to the next

Wikipedia describes Tangier as Morocco's second most important industrial centre after Casablanca, with the Tangier free zone and several industrial parks. The 2024 census counts 1,275,428 inhabitants. It is also a tourist city and a seaside resort, with a beach more than 7 km long.

So the same kind of shop does not see the same customers everywhere. Around the Grand Socco and the Petit Socco in the medina, many visitors walk past. On Boulevard Pasteur and downtown, customers are often office workers and regulars. Towards the Marshan or Malabata, sea views draw families at the weekend. A useful loyalty card has to work for the regular who comes back every morning and for the customer who passes once.

How the digital loyalty card works in Tangier with Stampylo

The customer pays first, scans the QR code at the counter with the phone camera and gets an order number. Nothing to install, for the customer or for you.

• A stamp is added only when the order is confirmed ready: no stamp without a real order.
• The cashier sets the number of stamps for an order, for example two stamps for a large order.
• You set the rule: "buy N, get 1 free", with one reward per business.
• The card is saved with one WhatsApp message and can be added to Google Wallet. Apple Wallet is not available yet.
• The reward is redeemed at the counter with a 6-digit code.

More than stamps: the wait at the counter

When the order is ready, the cashier taps "Ready". The customer's phone rings and vibrates on Android. On iPhone, the ticket page rings only while it stays open on screen; the "Enable alert" button keeps the screen on with a loud alarm. A TV in the shop can show "Preparing" and "Ready" numbers and announce them aloud in Arabic, French or English.

English Wikipedia notes that Tangier draws many cruise passengers and day visitors from Spain and Gibraltar. For these customers passing through, an announcement in French or English next to Arabic helps them understand that their number has been called. There is no Spanish announcement.

Bring customers back, not just count them
