Gifts for Google reviews

Can you offer a discount for a Google review in Morocco?

No. Offering a discount for a Google review, a free coffee, a gift or an extra loyalty stamp is against Google's rules. Reviews you get this way can be removed, and your Business Profile can be blocked from new reviews for a while. Here is what the Google review incentive policy says, what is still allowed for a café or snack bar in Morocco, and how to ask for reviews without offering anything.

Offering a discount for a Google review: what the rules say

Google Maps' contribution policy (support.google.com/contributionpolicy/answer/7400114) says a business must not offer incentives for reviews: payment, discounts, free goods or services. Reviews posted because of an incentive are removed from Maps.

The same policy bans discouraging negative reviews, asking only happy customers, and pressuring customers to write a review while they are on your premises.

Google Business Profile help (support.google.com/business/answer/3474122) lists free or discounted goods in exchange for reviews as fake and misleading content, strictly prohibited. That also covers incentives to change or remove a negative review.

  • "10% off your next order if you leave 5 stars"
  • A free tea or coffee for anyone who shows their review at the till
  • An extra loyalty stamp for a review
  • A prize draw only for people who left a review
  • Asking for reviews only from customers who say they are happy
  • Standing over the customer at the counter until the review is posted

What your Google Business Profile risks

Google's page on profile restrictions (support.google.com/business/answer/14114287) lists several actions for fake engagement: the profile cannot get new reviews for a set period, existing reviews are unpublished for a set period, or a warning tells customers that fake reviews were removed. Google emails you before a restriction applies, and you can appeal.

For serious or repeated cases, the contribution policy mentions possible actions ranging from suspending account privileges to account termination.

Anyone can report you. Google has a "Report business conduct" form (support.google.com/maps/contact/14718793) for businesses that offer incentives for reviews. It accepts photos of posters, flyers or QR codes that promise a reward as evidence.

Buying Google reviews in Morocco: same ban

Some providers sell "Google reviews" to businesses, in Morocco too. The word "reviews" in an ad does not tell you what is being sold: some sell a method to ask your real customers, others sell reviews written by other people.

Paying someone to write reviews, or buying a pack of reviews, is fake engagement for Google. Those reviews can be removed and your profile restricted. Before you pay any provider, ask one question: who writes the reviews? If the answer is not "your real customers", say no.

What is allowed: ask everyone, offer nothing

Google encourages businesses to remind customers to leave reviews, with a Google link or a QR code (support.google.com/business/answer/3474122). The customer needs a Google account to post.

One simple sentence, the same for everyone, is enough. In English: "Your Google review helps us a lot, whatever you think. The QR code is by the till." In French: "Votre avis Google nous aide beaucoup, qu'il soit bon ou moins bon. Le QR code est près de la caisse." In Darija: "رأيك فـ Google كيعاونّا بزاف، كيفما كان. الكود QR راه حدا الصندوق."

  • Ask every customer, not only the smiling regulars
  • Use the same words for everyone
  • Promise nothing: no discount, no drink, no stamp
  • Let the customer give any rating, or write nothing
  • Reply to reviews, without putting a promotion in the reply (Google advises against it)
  • Your loyalty card is still fine: it rewards purchases, not reviews

The "Are you happy?" trap

Some tools first ask "Happy with us?". Happy customers go to Google, the others go to a private form. That is selectively asking for positive reviews (review gating), which Google's policy bans.

The right way: the Google button shows for everyone. Private feedback can sit next to it as an option, but it must not decide who sees Google.

How Stampylo asks for reviews

Stampylo is a web app for cafés and snack bars in Morocco: a QR code queue, a digital stamp card and review requests. Nothing to install, for you or your customers.

  • After a visit, the customer gets an invitation: a push notification, or a WhatsApp message if you added your Google review link
  • The page shows the Google button first, to every customer, with no filter
  • Then an optional private rating with a comment only you see. The Google button stays visible whatever the rating
  • Never a stamp, gift or discount for a review; Stampylo does not write or buy reviews
  • At most one request every 2 months per customer, and none for 6 months after a rating
  • Stamps are added only when the order is confirmed "Ready": no stamp without a real order

Honest limits

Stampylo cannot promise a number of reviews. The customer decides whether to write one, and Google alone decides what it publishes. Stampylo offers no incentive, but your own posters and what you say at the counter are still your responsibility. This page sums up Google's public rules as of 23 October 2026; it is not legal advice.

A free Google review QR code, no reward

The free generator at stampylo.com/avis-google makes a QR code for your own Google review link. It runs in your browser. Print it by the till with a neutral sentence, without "10% off" or "free coffee". A poster that promises a reward can be used as evidence in Google's report form; one that only asks for a review cannot.
